HOW DO I WRITE ABOUT ART?

There are no rules for how to respond to the images, but here are a few ideas to get you going:

  • describe the image but don’t just focus on what you see; try to employ all five senses

  • use as much figurative language as you can to describe the image (focus on metaphors, similies, and personification)

  • explore a memory that the work brings up for you

  • imagine what the subject(s) of the painting might be thinking or saying in an interior monologue/dialogue

  • choose an object in the image and explain how it got there

  • play the campfire game and pick up where the previous post left off.

  • see teacher page for more ideas

  • email ArtWrite with any questions or if you need guidance
