Although her bed was perennially unmade, Joley’s apartment wasn’t dirty or messy. It was simply disregarded. The functional furniture was as soulless as the monochromatic clothes in her closet. The only thing with any personality was the blue and white bandana pattern on her duvet cover.
It didn’t bother Joely that besides a carton of milk and a collection of soy sauce and ketchup packets, the fridge was bare. It never occurred to her that the apartment was for anything other than sleeping, showering, and changing clothes.
