Robbie wanted a jello cup. But Robbie had a jello cup. It was right in front of him on the Formica counter. Dora had put it there 15 minutes ago, but when Robbie peeled back the top, a fleck of tinfoil remained stuck to the lip.
“The top is in the way.”
“No, it’s not,” Dora said with her head the fridge. “There’s plenty of room for the spoon.” All it required was her long nails to pry it free, but he was like an uppity horse that she was determined to break.
